Happy New Year 2006!
Don & Linda Radon & Crew
#1 Featured Boat: Maui’s first Radon 29’ This issue’s #1 featured boat was built for David Ho and his boat captain Chris Egan, who fish out ofMaui, Hawaii. This is the first 29’ Radon sent to Maui. The new 29’ Radon is powered with twin 315 Yanmar diesel engines. It also has an air conditioner! Other features include a galley area with sink and microwave, TV/DVD player, and removable fly bridge with bimini top. It is definitely one of the most elaborate boats we have built for use in Hawaii!
The boat arrives in Maui!
#2 Featured boat– Todd Perkins 29’ Our next featured boat is a 29’ we built for Todd Perkins, who lives in Las Vegas but is moving back to the big island of Hawaii to fish with his new Radon. Todd’s Radon is equipped with twin 260 HP Yanmar diesel engines. It is has a custom stainless steel rail on the side to keep the fishing line from chafing his gunnels. We installed a hydraulic pump as he is planning on installing hydraulic line pullers.
#3 Featured boat – Rex and Lori Honl’s 33’ Radon Our 3rd featured boat in this newsletter is also going to Hawaii. The owners are Rex and Lori Honl. Rex is a commercial fisherman on the big island of Hawaii.
This tip is for anyone who ever finds themselves working on the wiring on their own boat. When using the crimp-type connectors, always use the waterproof type. The waterproof connectors are adhesive lined so when you heat them, the adhesive melts and seals the connection. These connectors also shrink down around the wire. Remember to use a good quality crimping tool. We prefer a ratcheting crimper as it will not release until the proper crimp is made.
